Thigh-highs fail on fuller thighs at the band first: a welt sized for a narrower leg is worn at higher tension, which both marks more and, past a point, grips less because the silicone loses even contact.

This block is knitted wider through the whole leg with a 9 cm welt and three silicone strips. Silicone bands hold better on dry skin. Lotions and oils reduce grip. They reduce slipping; they do not eliminate it.

Why this costs more than the regular size

Knitted on a wider leg block with a longer welt carrying an additional silicone strip, in shorter runs. The price difference is construction, not a size premium.

At 40D the knit is denser than a sheer and resists snagging better, but higher denier resists snagging better. no tights are snag-proof.
